Position Overview

The Heavy Haul Truck Driver position serves as a key participant in the interaction between the Company (and other crew members), other contractors and our customers. The position is responsible for the loading, transporting and delivery of a variety of equipment in a safe and efficient manner, including milling equipment and other related machinery while following the state and federal guidelines. Position may provide guidance to other crew members at job sites.  Also ensures the safety of crew members via communicating and enforcing Company safety programs/policies/practices as well as OSHA, Department of Transportation (DOT) and other related regulatory requirements. Responsible for completing all required documentation and maintenance files in a timely manner.

Essential Job Duties

  • Loads, transports and unloads the Company’s equipment via a truck/lowboy trailer in a safe and efficient manner. Equipment may include but not limited to front-end loaders, track and/or rubber tire loaders, dump trucks, backhoes, motor graders, water trucks, milling machines, reclaimers, and/or forklifts and other multi-axle equipment.
  • Inspects equipment, and/or components daily to identify hazards, defects, necessary adjustments and repairs. May perform minor maintenance activities and report exceptional problems to appropriate members.
  • May operate equipment that requires technical expertise and/or specialized training.
  • Adheres to all applicable DOT and FMCSA regulations; completes and submits all required paperwork in a timely manner.
  • Cleans, inspects, and services vehicle ensuring it’s properly maintained and securely stored (position blocks).
  • Maintains high level of accuracy in load sizing for both weight and dimensional purposes. Uses required position blocks and rope ties around items to properly secure cargo for transport.
  • Properly uses permits and translates diagrams and sketches describing off-highway locations, routes, and job sites.
  • Consistently completes all job duties in a safe manner and promotes a positive safety awareness culture.
  • Demonstrates a keen sense of safety and awareness particularly when working in high traffic and potentially hazardous construction sites.
  • Demonstrates a high level of attention to detail.
  • Occasionally confers with customers or the general public and is expected to do so in a professional manner. Communicates any concerns to Foreman and/or supervisor.
  • Maintains good working relations with co-workers and other employees.
  • Maintain ability to work overtime, nights and weekends particularly during the high season.
  • Maintains ability to travel up to 100% of time to various job sites.
  • Maintains regular and punctual attendance.
  • Maintains an acceptable motor vehicle record, relevant commercial driver license (CDL) and medical card.
  • Completes special projects as required.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Prior work related experience including driving 7-13 axle equipment.
  • Working knowledge and experience with heavy equipment, processes, and safety protocols.
  • Valid CDL (Class A or B) preferred; Class A CDL couple with medical card required for hauling certain equipment.
  • Valid driver license and acceptable motor vehicle record
  • Construction industry experience preferred.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Department of Transportation (DOT) and current FMCSA rules and regulations and ensuring compliance with these guidelines.
  • Proven effective oral and written communication skills, job planning skills and mechanical aptitude are a must.

  • May interact with customers by way of introductions at the beginning of a job, answering questions, responding to customer requests, making reasonable changes to the plan, and providing a walk-throughs as necessary.
  • Responsible for workflow planning and organizing of jobs ensuring sufficient resources and materials are available and properly utilized.
  • Communicates with crew while on the job site, including the use of radios, hand signals, or other necessary forms of communication.
  • Directs the work activities of Operators, Laborers and other assigned crew members (possibly including clean up positions/operations) ensuring jobs are completed in a safe, efficient and cost effective manner.

  • Completes all necessary recordkeeping associated with timesheets, material requisitions, customer tickets, and daily quantities.

  • Inspects, diagnoses, and corrects malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and/or components using appropriate testing equipment and/or tools.

  • Inspects equipment, and/or components to identify hazards, defects, necessary adjustments and repairs.
  • May construct and fabricates part, using hand tools and specifications with input from shop personnel.
  • Delivers on the job and safety related training; may conduct safety tool box meetings.
  • Responds to and proactively addresses/corrects safety violations. Actively participates in safety/incident investigations, completion of first reports of injury, modified duty assignments, etc.
  • Maintains ability to work overtime, nights and weekends particularly during the high season.
  • Maintains ability to travel up to 100% of time to various job sites, possibly including extended overnight stays.

Essential Job Duties

  • Controls and actively participates in labor related activities on job sites during various stages of the project to ensure the accurate completion of the project.
  • Operates a backhoe in a safe manner.
  • Communicates with crew while on the job site, including the use of radios, hand signals, or other necessary forms of communication.
  • Provides clean-up operations behind a milling machine to help dump millings from skid steer, broom tractor or ground into its proper place such as a dump truck.
  • Manipulates hand or foot levers to control movements of backhoe on roadways and related surfaces such as parking lots, streets, highways, etc.
  • Removes roadway reflectors from roadway in front of milling machine.
  • Removes excess asphalt/concrete around manholes and water valves that a milling machine cannot reach.
  • While on a job site, may be responsible for appropriately marking manholes and water valves with spray paint to be avoided by the milling machine.
  • May be responsible for a variety of additional duties, such as working with a milling machine on job sites, and is responsible for:
    • actively communicating with the employee operating the machine;
    • ensuring the milling machine is clear of any debris or objects it could potentially hit, including remove millings that could hinder the operation of the machine;
    • assisting with changing carbide teeth in milling machine drum;
    • greasing the machine; and
    • maintaining the correct cutting depth.
  • May also be responsible for working with a clean-up crew on job sites, responsible for assisting equipment operators to ensure loose particles are removed from the milled and roadway surfaces using shovels, brooms or other methods to achieve a cleaned surface.
  • Other duties may include helping with traffic control set-up and taking down and tending a slow/stop sign to maintain safe public and worker travel through the work zone, loading and unloading equipment (including equipment from trucks), shovels dirt, gravel, and other materials.
  • May performs work with all hand tools including but not limited to pneumatic or traditional hammers, drills, impact guns and grease guns.

The Broom Tractor Operator position serves as a key participant in the interaction between the Company (and other crew members), other contractors and our customers. The position is responsible for operating a variety of equipment in a safe and efficient manner, including broom tractor equipment and other related machinery.

Essential Job Duties

  • Controls and actively participates in labor related activities on job sites during various stages of the project to ensure the accurate completion of the project.
  • Operates a broom tractor in a safe manner.
  • Communicates with crew while on the job site, including the use of radios, hand signals, or other necessary forms of communication.
  • Provides clean-up behind a milling machine through the use of equipment with sweeper attachments.
  • Manipulates hand or foot levers to control movements of broom tractor on roadways and related surfaces such as parking lots, streets, highways, etc.
  • Safety operators equipment within and out of work zones to sweep millings into a pile and away from adjacent roads if still useable by public travel for the bobcat operator to sweep up.
  • Provides clean-up behind a milling machine through the use of a skid steer with various attachments connect, such attachments include roto milling head, sweeper attachment and bucket attachment.
  • Manipulates hand or foot levers to control movements of skid steer on roadways and related surfaces such as parking lots, streets, highways, etc.
  • Cleans up any loose particles left behind by other equipment.
  • Keeps milled surface and roadway clean of any loose particles.
  • While on a job site, may be responsible for appropriately marking manholes and water valves with spray paint to be avoided by the milling machine.
  • May be responsible for a variety of additional duties, such as working with a milling machine on job sites, and is responsible for:
    • actively communicating with the employee operating the machine;

    • actively communicating with the employee operating the machine;
    • ensuring the milling machine is clear of any debris or objects it could potentially hit, including remove millings that could hinder the operation of the machine;

    • greasing the machine; and
    • maintaining the correct cutting depth.
  • May also be responsible for working with a clean-up crew on job sites, responsible for assisting equipment operators to ensure loose particles are removed from the milled and roadway surfaces using shovels, brooms or other methods to achieve a cleaned surface.
  • Other duties may include loading and unloading equipment (including equipment from trucks), shovels dirt, gravel, and other materials.
  • May performs work with all hand tools including but not limited to pneumatic or traditional hammers, drills, impact guns and grease guns.

Position Overview

The Payroll Administrator is responsible for all payroll related activities across their assigned entity, ensuring compliance with laws and tax obligations, and maintaining all external and internal payroll processing controls. Key responsibilities include ensuring accurate and timely administration of timekeeping, weekly and biweekly payroll processing, record keeping, reconciliation, prevailing wage administration, certified payroll reporting and payroll related reporting activities.

  • Validate and audit mass data changes (e.g., imported changes) including but not limited to merit, bonus, and annual health insurance open enrollment activities.
  • Provide necessary information to the Corporate Payroll Manager for the review and timely response to agencies regarding payroll taxes, including new state applications and set up, employee level coding, state reciprocities, quarterly/annual taxes, state, local taxes, and IRS requests and inquiries.
  • Provide communications to various stakeholders on issues and acts as a liaison to ensure resolution of any payroll related issues.
  • Maintain knowledge and understanding of federal and state level Department of Labor (DOL), Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), and agency laws and regulations to ensure payroll activities are compliant; escalate inquiries to the Corporate Payroll Manager.
  • Provide excellence in customer service by building and maintaining effective working relationships with employees, management, and other departments; as requested, produce payroll related reports from the HRIS.
  • Ensure employee related documents are retained based on corporate record retention practices.
  • Acquire knowledge to be viewed as the resident payroll expert for the entity. Continually demonstrate subject matter expertise in the areas of time systems, prevailing wage and certified payroll reporting and processing.
  • Continually identify opportunities to advance and automate processes, including paperless process initiatives.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of information at all times.
Human Resources Support 
  • Partner with appropriate corporate members and hiring managers to ensure job descriptions are updated and effectively manage job requisition process in Company’s HRIS. Create job requisitions, post opportunities, screen applicants and coordinate interview and select efforts. Ensure candidate disposition status is updated.
  • Partner with safety team to ensure timely migration of new hires into their onboarding process.
  • Ensure completeness of all new hire documentation (including I-9/E-Verify), certification forms, electronic consents, paid time off policy assignment, etc. Acquire necessary details to properly account for employee level tax implications (city/state level) based on worksite locations.
  • Partner with internal members to ensure the smooth coordination and issuance of company equipment to new employees including computers (and other similar devices), cell phones, personal protective equipment (and other similar safety items), etc. Properly maintain accurate related records.
  • Partner with Office Manager and Director HR Operations to ensure proper administration of leave of absence policies and practices, coupled with properly applying time off and related STD/LTD.
  • Ensure HR document management and retention practices are compliant and consistent with company standards; utilize HRIS record management systems.
  • Gain expert level knowledge of HRIS, ensure system is administered in accordance with corporate initiatives (i.e., applicant tracking system, onboarding, benefit enrollments/changes, employment changes, offboarding).
  • Ensure all benefit programs are properly administered in HRIS (plan eligibility, premium deductions, qualifying events, documentation, etc.) and monitor related impacts to payroll.
  • Ensure employee self-service functionality is utilized (employee profile changes, PTO requests, benefit elections, etc.).
  • Maintain effective working relationships with all personnel and actively participate in related team meetings.
  • Immediately escalate all employee related risk situations or special inquiries to the CFO and/or CHRO.
  • Complete other duties as required.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • A minimum of 3 years of related experience in a multi-site / multi-state environment,
    including knowledge of payroll administration: preparation, transmittal,
    reconciliation, and compliance of such activities.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field and/or HR certification preferred.
  • ADP Workforce Now, prevailing wage, and certified payroll processing experience strongly preferred.
  • Prior construction industry experience strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of payroll related recordkeeping requirements, procedures, practices and general FLSA laws.
  • Proven experience effectively developing relationships with all internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications; exceptional Excel skills preferred.
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail, excellent critical thinking skills, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment; ability to prioritize among competing duties/projects.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; customer service minded approach in all interactions.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish a plus.
  • Experience working with a diverse workforce and multi-site environment.

Position Overview

The Mechanic is responsible for the health and maintenance of all the Company equipment that is in service, to include pickups and all company heavy equipment (i.e., milling machines, reclaimers, skid steers, forklifts vehicles, etc.). The mechanic is responsible for maintaining production, quality and safety standards by ensuring the operation of machinery and mechanical equipment.

Essential Job Duties

  • Above all, ensure that safe practices are followed in all aspects of daily activities.
  • Diagnose / troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues accurately the first time.
  • Read schematics, diagrams, blueprints, etc. to assist with repairs and/or diagnostics.
  • Diagnose complex electric, hydraulic, and mechanical issues.
  • Remove, replace, and repair major components of milling machines, skid-steer loaders, street sweepers, heavy and light trucks, etc.
  • Perform routine maintenance services on heavy equipment.
  • Conduct annual vehicle inspections as per Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements.
  • Perform repairs on-site in the field as needed.
  • Maintain degree of professionalism and customer satisfaction for employees operating the equipment and a positive customer experience.
  • Actively communicate with the Shop Manager, other mechanics, operators, etc. to ensure repair and maintenance services are provided in a timely manner.
  • Ensure part needs are communicated to Shop Manager to ensure proper inventory levels.
  • Maintain ability to work overtime, nights and weekends particularly during the high season summer months.
  • Maintain a safe and efficient workflow in the shop.
  • Complete special projects as required.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior experience welding heavy machinery.
  • Experience and excellent knowledge of the repair and maintenance of heavy duty construction equipment; a minimum of 3 years of experience preferred.
  • Experience with roto-milling and/or related equipment highly preferred.
  • Ability to work long hours outdoors and will be on their feet all day while either walking or standing.
  • Detail oriented, organized, and capable of working independently and efficiently in a high-pressure environment.
  • Reasonable level of computer literacy.
  • Valid driver license and acceptable motor vehicle record; CDL preferred.
  • Knowledge of organizational and safety operations and procedures, safety methods and practices.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Department of Transportation (DOT) and current OSHA rules and regulations and ensuring compliance with these guidelines.
  • Ability to engage in heavy manual labor for extended periods, in all types of weather and under various working conditions.
  • Demonstrated skills in the care and use of hand and power tools employed in all phases of heavy equipment mechanical maintenance and repair work.
  • Able to read, write and communicate verbally in English. Ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of people and backgrounds.
